On Thursday 30th November we welcomed students from our feeder primaries for our exciting High Flyers project. Students used their analytical reading skills to explore the writing techniques Charles Dickens used to create the character of Ebeneezer Scrooge in the novella ‘A Christmas Carol.’
We also explored the literary technique of pathetic fallacy. Students discussed the stave structure of the novella and the connotations of the title ‘ A Christmas Carol’. After we had analysed the text, students learned the meaning of some very challenging vocabulary such as: avaricious, melancholy, ornery and capricious. Our High Flyers completed a very intelligent piece of writing about the character of Ebeneezer Scrooge. We wish all of our feeder primaries a very happy Christmas.
