Over the past couple of weeks the members of STEM club have been enjoying all things crystal! Our first task involved was making crystals. For this we were provided with some saturated solutions of varying colours, we then evaporated away the water to leave some fascinating crystals behind. The next week we embarked on our crystal garden adventures. We carefully selected the best crystals and placed them in jars filled with sodium silicate solution. While we were patiently waiting for our crystal gardens to grow we daringly set fire to some methane bubbles…..don’t try this at home! This week we hope to continue our crystal adventures by making crystal snow flake tree decorations. Come and join us every Thursday afternoon, for lots of creative, Science adventures!
