Our Key Stage 2 and primary production this year was Hairspray JR and packed-out audiences were blown away by the performances of our wonderful cast. Our Key Stage 3 cast were joined by children from four of our local primaries, St Teresa of Lisieux Catholic Primary, Our Lady and St Swithin’s RC Primary, St Albert’s Catholic Primary and Leamington Community Primary. Each primary taking on a scene including a dance number and song.
Each primary school gave everything to their performance and many hours of practice were put in to create this lively, fun and thought-provoking production. Our Key Stage three students who made up the main cast were delighted to work with so many students from neighboring schools. The collaboration between schools has built a wonderful sense of community and allows students to learn and grow through the arts.
Transition Co-Ordinator Mrs. Wharmby said “These productions are so important for our community and the students who take part. Primary students get a fabulous experience of taking part in a big production and our students love sharing their expertise and knowledge with their new primary friends. Fantastic relationships are forged, and our community see students from all schools at their very best.”
We are looking forward to welcoming back our friends from our linked primaries as we prepare for our next transition events “Big Fish Little Fish” and “The Climb.”
Mr. Gidman Headteacher says “It’s very special having our neighboring schools take part in events like this production, watching students flourish, grow and excel is one of the most rewarding elements of our role here at St John Bosco.”
