Resonate Youth Collective Orchestra

Article brought to you by Daisy from the Student Editors

Our students who took part in the Resonate Youth Collective Orchestra earlier this month delivered an outstanding performance and were a true credit to the school.

The day was an intense and challenging musical experience, pushing young musicians well beyond their comfort zones, and they rose to the occasion brilliantly. From the very first rehearsal to the final performance, our students demonstrated professionalism, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for music.

Opportunities such as Resonate make a powerful difference to students’ musical development. By working alongside students from other schools and professional musicians, they were able to extend their skills and experience the excitement of high-level ensemble performance. We are proud to be a school that supports opportunities like this, which make a real difference to our students’ learning.

A particular highlight of the performance was seeing Amber open the final piece by DJing live and seamlessly mixing her beats into the orchestra — an achievement only a few professional DJs can claim. It was a huge moment that showcased her confidence, creativity, and musical skill. Our instrumentalists were also spread throughout the orchestra, each playing an important role with focus and commitment.

Reflecting on the experience, Amber said:
“I found it really useful for my future, as working with an orchestra isn’t something everyone gets to experience. I also really enjoyed working with new people and learning how to mix songs with an orchestra playing.”

Following the event, we received wonderful feedback from the Resonate team, who praised our students as, “an absolute credit to their school,” highlighting their energy, dedication, and musicality throughout the day. The final performance was described as a fantastic outcome of their hard work.

We are incredibly proud of all the students involved and grateful to Resonate for continuing to provide such inspiring opportunities.
