St John Bosco Arts College is one of only 500 schools in England to be granted teaching school status in the third cohort of applications. The designation, by what was then the National College for School Leadership, entitles the College to lead the training and professional development for staff and to shape the future of the teaching profession.

‘The highest accolade a school can achieve’ Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Education.

The designation puts St John Bosco Arts College at the forefront of educational thinking with a key role in delivering Initial Teacher Training (ITT), Continuing Professional and Leadership Development (CPLD), School to School Support, Recruitment and Deployment of Specialist Leaders in Education (SLEs). In addition we are actively engaged in research and development projects to improve educational outcomes.

St John Bosco Arts College is a part of ‘The St John Bosco Teaching School Alliance’.

The  Alliance includes amongst its strategic partners The Archdiocese of Liverpool, School Improvement Liverpool, Liverpool Hope University, Alsop High School, Holly Lodge Girls' College,  The Academy of St Nicholas, The Academy of St Francis of Assisi, De La Salle Academy, Sts Peter and Paul Catholic College Widnes, St Peter's Catholic High School, Orrell, St Matthews Catholic Primary and Emmaus Primary. All Liverpool Secondary schools and HEI’s form a wider Alliance. Between them they offer a wide range of courses, conferences, leadership development training for staff and school leaders of the future.
