Our Governors - Remit

• Strategic leadership: Our governing body provides strategic leadership and oversight to ensure that St John Bosco Arts College continues to thrive, setting a clear vision and ethos for the school.

• Board composition: The board is made up of eight foundation governors, one Local Authority (LA) governor, one staff governor, the headteacher and two parent governors.

• Planning and monitoring: Governors agree the school’s strategic priorities and monitor progress against them, working closely with the headteacher and senior leadership team.

• Holding leaders to account: They raise standards by analysing performance data and holding leaders to account for pupil achievement and staff development.

• Financial stewardship: The governing body takes collective responsibility for the school’s budget, ensuring public funds are used effectively and that the school remains financially sound.

By fulfilling these roles - setting vision, challenging and supporting school leaders, and overseeing finances - our governing body ensures that every decision is made in the best interests of our students and the wider school community.
