Yesterday, our KS3 cast lit up the Bosco stage with their lively production of Annie JR, joined by talented visitors from Leamington Community Primary School and St Albert’s Catholic Primary School. They performed to a packed audience — roughly 320 people, filling the hill to full capacity. The atmosphere was electric, and every scene kept the crowd fully engaged.
Earlier in the week, armed with my SET press pass, I slipped behind the scenes to catch a glimpse of the magic in the making. The rehearsals made one thing clear: this production ran on teamwork, nerves, and excitement – with a healthy dose of hard work!

It was so impressive to witness the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes, from sound technicians, costume repairs, stage directions, as well as the obvious fine tuning of vocals and dance steps!
I managed to catch up with Miss Wharmby, our Events and Transition Co-Ordinator, who has been leading these productions for over a decade. She reflected on how much the experience has meant to her: “It’s been an amazing journey so far, and the kids have been brilliant. The primary production is especially special for me because the younger children get to work with our students - it builds confidence, sparks friendships, and brings our school community together.”
The primary performers shared their own pre-show thoughts too. Eva, from St Albert’s Primary, admitted she was nervous about performing in front of such a big audience, while Jessie from Leamington couldn’t wait to show everyone the scenes they’d worked so hard on.
From the energy in rehearsals to the thunderous support from the crowd, Annie JR was clearly a huge success. It’s obvious that the cast, crew, and everyone involved created something truly special — and the community turned up in full force to celebrate their hard work.
