Course Overview

AQA A Level Spanish offers students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the Spanish language, culture, and society. The course covers a wide range of engaging topics, such as the evolution of Spanish society, political and artistic culture in the Hispanic world, immigration and multiculturalism, and the Franco dictatorship and its legacy. Students also explore Spanish-speaking literature and film, allowing them to develop critical thinking and analytical skills. Grammar is embedded throughout, strengthening linguistic accuracy and fluency. Students will improve their ability to communicate confidently and effectively in Spanish, both in writing and speaking, while gaining insight into the cultures and issues affecting the Spanish-speaking world today. This course is ideal for those looking to study languages, international relations, or global studies at university, or those aiming to work in international business, translation, or diplomacy.

How is the course assessed?

The A Level is assessed at the end of the two-year course through three final exams:

Paper 1: Listening, reading, and writing (50%)

Paper 2: Writing on a set text and film (20%)
