A Level - Biology

Course Overview

Biology A level will give you the skills to make connections and associations with all living things around you. Biology literally means the study of life. A level Biology lasts two years, with exams at the end of the second year. Examples of topics in year 1 include Biological Molecules, Cells, and Variation. Examples of topics in year 2 include Genetics, Response to Change, and Energy Transfers in Organisms. The course also involves practical skills that develop skills needed to investigate the way living things behave and work. Examples of the investigations include Microscopy and Activity Within Cells.

How is the course assessed?

There are 3, 2-hour exams. At least 15% of the marks are what you learned in the practical lessons.
