8th June 2020

Morning everyone, hope you and your families are keeping well and safe as we come through another week in lockdown. Yesterday was Trinity Sunday, celebrating the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As we continue with our ‘new’ every day, we trust in God, his son who understands our hopes, dreams, pain and suffering, and the Holy Spirit that surrounds, guides and lifts us.

I have been marking a wall in my house each day, like a tally chart, today is day 77 since lockdown was announced. Not really realising that it would grow so much! When I make the mark for another day, I see a time that has passed filled with many differing days of uncertainty, sadness, laughter, and hope. I see the tally as a day closer to better times, one step nearer to being with family and friends.

Each day brings us something new, and with the guidance and trust in God the Father, the Son and the presence of the Holy Spirit that lives in us all, we can be filled with the strength we need to come through these days.

For the times we fall, talk to God. When we are sad, worried or burdened let God carry you. The times we have had a good day, feel love surrounding us, and are happy, thank God for those walking with us, who represent in our lives and keep us going. We are all precious in God's eyes.

This prayer has been said every Sunday at mass from Archbishop Malcolm.

God Our Father, each person is precious to You. You are the Giver of life. Have mercy on us and protect us at this time, as the coronavirus threatens health and life. You are an ever-present Helper in time of trouble. Watch over those who are suffering, give strength to those who are aiding the sick and give courage to all in this time of anxiety. We ask this of you in the name of your Son. Jesus Christ.

Amen.
